How are organisations across Scotland measuring the difference they make, and how are they using that evidence to make decisions? Join us for the first Social Value in Scotland webinar to hear from people working on veterans’ wellbeing, community asset transfers and social impact partnerships, as well as a charity getting started with social value measurement.

Speakers and topics

Karen McNeill: When the number becomes the story

Karen led the social value evaluation for Scotland’s Veterans Wellbeing Alliance. She’ll share what calculating social value across six veterans’ organisations revealed about the evidence they collect, which outcomes are harder to capture and how funders’ expectations shape what gets counted. We’ll also explore what that means for decisions about investing in prevention.

Gerry Hamill, Social Impact Scotland: Moving from advocacy to delivery

Gerry will share how Social Impact Scotland is preparing to move from advocacy to delivery and how it aims to help organisations build the skills and confidence to access and develop Social Impact Partnerships.

Paul Belton, Apex Scotland: Getting started with social value

Paul will join the panel to share what Apex Scotland is learning as it works out how to measure and demonstrate its social value.

James Parker, Dumfries and Galloway Council: The role of social value in community asset transfers

James will explore how social value can inform decisions about transferring public assets to community organisations, including how to consider the benefits a transfer could bring to local people.

Hosted by Maddie Kortenaar from Social Value Engine, with time for audience questions and discussion.
