Our 30 September 2026 webinar showed how Place Explorer, Impact Card Studio, My Impact, SVE Connect, SVE Delivery and HearAbouts support different stages of understanding, delivering, measuring and communicating impact. Watch the recording and explore the tools covered.

On 30 September 2026, we brought Social Value Engine customers and partners together for a webinar looking at a simple question: what else can you do with the Social Value Engine?

Over the past year, the wider Social Value Engine ecosystem has grown considerably. Alongside the core platform for measuring and reporting social value, there are now tools for understanding place, communicating impact, working with suppliers and delivery partners, managing social value commitments and capturing impact at an individual level.

The webinar brought those developments together and showed how the different parts connect. The full recording is available on YouTube.

Making more of the tools you already have

We started with some of the tools Social Value Engine customers may already have access to.

Place Explorer

Place Explorer brings together place-based data to help organisations understand the communities in which they are working.

Users can explore areas across the UK, look beyond headline deprivation measures and use the information to support project planning, business cases, funding applications and tender responses.

It also provides a useful layer of context around social value reporting. A social return on investment figure tells part of the story. Understanding the needs, strengths and characteristics of the place in which that impact was created helps explain the wider picture.

Impact Card Studio

We also looked at Impact Card Studio, which we sometimes describe as “Canva for impact”.

It allows Social Value Engine users to take information they have already captured and turn it into more visual impact communications, including graphics for reports, newsletters, social media and other communications.

Impact Cards can be saved as PDFs or PNGs and shared through a direct link.

We also reminded customers that free regular training is available, and that Team and Pro customers have access to dashboard functionality for bringing together results across multiple projects.

My Impact: recognising individual contribution

Jo Maher introduced My Impact, our platform for helping individuals recognise, record and understand the value of the contribution they make.

People can record activities such as volunteering, sports coaching, environmental activity, fundraising and community involvement. My Impact then helps translate those activities into a personal social value picture, while also showing links to areas such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and personal skills development.

Organisations can bring individual activity together through a dashboard to understand collective impact, identify areas of strength, run surveys or challenges and build a richer picture of the contribution being made by employees, students, volunteers, members or other communities.

One of the areas we are particularly interested in is how this can help people recognise skills and experience that may otherwise go unnoticed, including experience gained through volunteering and community participation.

SVE Connect: collecting progress and evidence from partners

We then demonstrated SVE Connect.

Connect was developed in response to a common challenge for commissioners and organisations working across partnerships and supply chains: collecting regular information about what has actually been delivered.

Through SVE Connect, an organisation can invite a supplier, partner or delivery organisation to provide updates against agreed commitments. The partner only sees the projects they have been invited to contribute to and can provide progress figures, supporting evidence and contextual information.

Updates come back into the Social Value Engine for review.

This can be used in procurement and commissioning, but its application is broader. It can also support grant programmes, partnerships, networks and collaborative projects where several organisations contribute towards shared outcomes.

The aim is to make ongoing impact reporting easier without requiring every delivery partner to become an expert user of the full Social Value Engine.

SVE Delivery: from bid commitment to evidence

We also gave attendees a first look at SVE Delivery, which has been developed particularly with suppliers and private sector organisations in mind.

For many organisations, social value information currently sits across tender documents, spreadsheets, email inboxes, reports and individual members of staff. That makes it difficult to see what has been promised, what has been delivered and what evidence already exists.

SVE Delivery brings those stages together. Organisations can use it to support tender preparation, record social value commitments, monitor progress, identify delivery partners, collect evidence and build a reusable record of previous activity.

It also links back into the Social Value Engine so that delivery information can ultimately feed into fuller social value and impact reporting.

For organisations bidding regularly for public sector contracts, this creates a clearer evidence trail and a growing library of previous commitments and achievements that can inform future bids.

Closing the loop with community voice

We also introduced HearAbouts, our community voice platform.

HearAbouts is designed to help organisations gather ideas and feedback from the people affected by projects and services.

People can leave location-based feedback, while organisations can use the platform to ask questions, understand sentiment and report back on what has happened as a result.

This creates a feedback loop: understanding what communities need, delivering activity, measuring what happened and then asking people whether the change had the intended effect.

HearAbouts will shortly become more widely available as an add-on or standalone product.

What is coming next?

We finished the webinar with a look at some of the improvements currently on our roadmap:

  • Suggested survey questions linked to the outcomes organisations want to understand.
  • Further improvements to SVE Connect.
  • Stronger integration between social value reporting and place-based data.
  • Improved proxy categorisation and the ability to make frequently used proxies easier to find.
  • More customer webinars and practical sessions.
  • Clearer updates within the platform about new and improved functionality.

We also talked about the Social Value Engine Advisory Board, where customers can provide direct feedback, see new functionality early and help inform future development.

We are always interested in hearing from customers who would like to contribute.

One ecosystem, different parts of the impact journey

A theme running through the webinar was that social value measurement rarely happens in isolation.

Organisations need to understand the places in which they work. They need to listen to communities, set meaningful commitments, work with partners, capture evidence, measure outcomes and communicate what happened.

The tools we demonstrated are designed to support different stages of that process while connecting back to the same underlying aim: helping organisations understand whether investment is reaching the places and people who need it and achieving the impact intended.

If you would like to explore any of the tools in more detail, we are very happy to talk through your particular use case.
